Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) today take the form of bars, grids, sheets, plates, etc.
FRP products may achieve the same or better reinforcement objective of commonly used metallic products such as steel
reinforcing bars, prestressing tendons, and bonded plates.
Concrete members can benefit from the following features of FRP reinforcement:
- light weight;
- high specific strength and modulus;
- durability;
- corrosion resistance;
- chemical and environmental resistance;
- magnetic permeability;
- impact resistance.
